Travel Health Advice Sheet - please click here for access. This will give you all the advice you need to travel safely with regards to your health, including webpages that you may find of use and interest.

How do I access the Travel Clinic?

You need to complete a Travel Risk Assessment form AT LEAST 6 WEEK'S PRIOR TO TRAVEL. Please click here for access, or collect from Reception. You may email the completed form to the surgery or drop in to Reception.

Your travel form will be date stamped upon receipt. Anything received with 4 WEEKS OR LESS TO TRAVEL WILL NOT BE SEEN, and you will be referred to a private travel clinic.

Upon receipt of your completed Travel Risk Assessment form, the Nurse will review your requirements, and Reception will contact you to book an appointment. This appointment will be 10, 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the nurse's assessment of your form. We no longer hold a dedicated Travel Clinic, and your appointment will be booked at your convenience, as long as they fit in with our criteria for receiving vaccinations at least 4 weeks prior to travel.

Please note that every member of the family who is travelling will need to complete a Travel Risk Assessment form, and will need their own appointment with the nurse.

What vaccines are available and how much do they cost?

The nurse will assess your travel requirements and will recommend what vaccinations are required (if any). She will also advise you of the likely cost. Please note that whilst some vaccinations are free on the NHS, others are chargeable. All vaccinations must be paid for at the time of your appointment. We accept debit/ credit cards, cheques and cash.

  • Cholera: NHS free of charge
  • Diptheria, Polio & Tetanus boosters: NHS free of charge
  • Hepatitis A (adult and child - course of 2): NHS free of charge
  • Hepatitis B (adult - course of 3): £40 per injection
  • Hepatitis B (child - course of 3): £30 per injection
  • Japanese Encephalitis (course of 2): £77 per injection - this needs to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance of your appointment
  • Malarone (adult and child): a private prescription will be issued, cost £10. You will then need to pay for the actual tablets at the pharmacy
  • Rabies (course of 3): £60 per injection
  • Typhoid: NHS free of charge

If you require Men ACWY and associated certificate, or Tick Borne Encephalitis you will need to attend a private travel clinic, as we do not offer these vaccinations here. Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

What if I am travelling in less than 4 week's time?

If you contact us with less than 4 weeks until you travel, we unfortunately will not be able to see you, and you will be referred to a private travel clinic (listed below). We will be happy to print out a list of your immunisations for you to collect and take with you to this appointment. You may access your immunisation history if you have on-line access. Please attend Reception with photographic ID, and you will be issued with a log on and password to register for this service.
